Although brief, we have crammed a lot into our first part of the year.
From sledging to cooking, making rockets and getting on with lots of fun things, we've been keeping busy! We came in to our nursery on Monday morning to find the BIGGEST Christmas tree ever! It's so tall that it touches the top of the ceiling :-) We have also been trying on our costumes for the Nativity play as well and we look forward to seeing all our family and friends here on Thursday 11th December for the big show!
Lydia brought in her pet tortoise, Hammond, today and let us stroke him. We also watched as he went for a very slow walk under our table :-)
We went to our forest school this afternoon and took it in turns to put on a blindfold while a friend led us to some trees to feel. This can help build trust, confidence, listening and attention - using our other senses to perceive the world around us.
Here are some photos from the first few weeks of our new year - lots of new faces and some old friends :-)
The grand Finale to our Montessori year took place on Friday - Sports Day and the picnic lunch that followed for all the children and families at Maidford.
Alison decorated the barn and sports field with art and bunting made by the children in the past few weeks; Julie organised everything; Peter and Fiona laid on a wonderful lunch (with AJ's help!) and the teachers and children had a great time running, jumping, spidering and rolling tyres in the races. Thank you to everyone who helped, took part and shared the day! |
