From sledging to cooking, making rockets and getting on with lots of fun things, we've been keeping busy!
Although brief, we have crammed a lot into our first part of the year.

The grand Finale to our Montessori year took place on Friday - Sports Day and the picnic lunch that followed for all the children and families at Maidford.
Alison decorated the barn and sports field with art and bunting made by the children in the past few weeks; Julie organised everything; Peter and Fiona laid on a wonderful lunch (with AJ's help!) and the teachers and children had a great time running, jumping, spidering and rolling tyres in the races. Thank you to everyone who helped, took part and shared the day! The North wind blew and we were very chilly outside so we decided to light a fire and sit around it carefully to get warm. Then Julie made us all some hot chocolate and we felt much better!
We all went for a lovely walk around the lake today in the autumn sunshine. Julie showed us the pumpkin patch, but all we could find was marrows! Them we walked around the lake, looking at the running water in the rill. Then we all came back for Jonty's birthday celebration. He carried the globe around a candle four times to show how the earth has travelled around the sun four times since he was born - then he blew out the candle and we sang Happy Birthday and gave a big clap!
The weather behaved impeccably for our last day of term and our Olympic Sports Day. Lots of Mummies and Daddies (and Grannies and Granddads!) came along to support and clap and cheer the children from the Arrival of the Olympic Torch, through all the events and they even took part in their own race at the end. We all had a delicious picnic afterwards and enjoyed the summer while it lasted!
We celebrated the Queen's Diamond Jubilee all this week with lots of yummy cakes and biscuits decorated with red, white and blue icing. We had some healthy snacks too, but they weren't quite so colourful! We decorated our Nursery with lots of flags and bunting too and had our lunch outside when it was warm enough.
With the warm weather, we sang Easter Songs for our mum's and dad's outside in the sunshine this morning. Victoria played the guitar and we sang Baa Baa Black Sheep, The Farmer Wants A Wife and even an African song and lots more. Afterwards, we said goodbye to Maya who is leaving us to go to big school and Julie gave her a special Montessori teddy. And then we gave out our Easter cards and played in the sunshine while our parents chatted.
Sometimes it's nice to share what we do every day at our Montessori Nursery - lots of work and fun inside and out!
